This is the image 8 of 11 in the series of a pair of American avocets (Recurvirostra americana) going through their elaborate mating ritual. It was a real pleasure to watch the scene unfold in front of my lens, including the copulation moment. Images were taken in March at the Radio Road Ponds, Redwood City, California, USA.
